The rise of the Mate

I feel like the current RvB events justify my reasoning for still hanging out in their community.

To cut a long story short, an NC. Director put an alt into RvB. During one of RvB’s “themed weekends”, said alt broke a whole bunch of the weekend rules and lost his ship for it. He demands a reimbursement from a RvB Director, who says “no” whilst also using the word “mate” a few times. Cue this extract from the logs, the best bit bolded for reference;

[ 2012.07.29 17:52:59 ] Nyu Trustan > I havnt been offensive, im giving you your terms
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:23 ] Jimmy 4chan > you have repeated me called me homosexual
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:37 ] Jimmy 4chan > and refered that i am in a relationship with other pilots in this game
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:53 ] Nyu Trustan > mates is not a homosexual reference.
[ 2012.07.29 17:53:57 ] Jimmy 4chan > going to petition you now
[ 2012.07.29 17:54:01 ] Jimmy 4chan > yes it is
[ 2012.07.29 17:54:03 ] Nyu Trustan > yea go for it mate
[ 2012.07.29 17:54:28 ] Jimmy 4chan > thanks for your willingness to accept ccp sanctions

The alt is kicked from RvB, so he logs his NC. main on and this long conversation happens with another RvB Director. Here’s my favourite part;

Travis Musgrat > kept referring that i was in a realationship with 2 other pilots in my former corp
Jiny > do you mean the word “mate”?
Travis Musgrat > yes
Jiny > that’s a brittish word for friend, associate, comrade….
Jiny > not a gay reference
Travis Musgrat > thats very offensive where i live so my gm bro is going to ban him for a while tomorrow

So the NC. mate decides to do the rational thing and declare war on RvB whilst also created a “Yellow Federation” which also declares war. What a mate. Cue RvB spamming everywhere with the word mate. Twitter, this forum writeup, you name it (with myself posting along with the RvB lot, of course). This eventually culminated in this:

Goonswarm Federation has joined RvB – BLUE Republic in a war against Northern Coalition.. Their participation in the war will start at 2012.07.30 23:28

So the Mate War began last night, and you can read Mangala’s excellent summary here. To save you a bit of time though, here’s one of the battle reports.

Also, the Black Rebels have also declared themselves an ally with RvB for the war. More may follow, as the Mate War 2012 continues.
